Welcome to Sydenham Garden
Sydenham Garden is a community charity, providing gardening, nature conservation and creative opportunitiesfor the well-being of local residents and in particular those with health problems.
We provide a place where people can gain confidence and self-esteem through work and community. We offer training opportunities in areas of horticulture, conservation and arts & crafts, increasing the skills and future employability of our users.
We use part of a nature reserve to create a community garden with gardening and creative working space. Referred clients, known as co-workers, work alongside regular volunteers and trained staff. The centre and nature reserve is for the whole community, but will particularly help those coping with ill health.
Our volunteers and co-workers help in managing the reserve and in planning and planting our garden. Creative work, crafts and plants are also sold to the public.
Forthcoming Events
We are currently seeking a freelance therapeutic gardening sessional worker - details in the Vacancies section of this website.
The office is closed between 24th December and 4th January. Therapeutic gardening and art and craft sessions start again in week of 11th January.
We plan the launch of our new website in February 2010.
