The majority of our funding comes through grants from the Big Lottery Fund, trusts and foundations, development organisations and Lewisham Council. We rely on this income to meet the costs of our activities and to deliver quality services.
We are extremely grateful for the generous support of the following funders:
We recieved generous donations from the following funders for the building of our resource centre, completed in December 2010:

In 2007, Sydenham Garden was awarded a five year grant from the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities programme.
The funded project is called “Growing Sydenham Garden” and supports some of our management costs, enabling us to focus on developing the charity and our impact on the local community. It has three key outcomes which we are focussed on achieving over the five years:
The project was progressing well at the end of Year 3 (November 2010), with 48 co-workers having reported an improvement in mental or physical health and 49 co-workers having reported an improvement in social interaction and quality of life. We had also helped co-workers and volunteers to attain 91 new qualifications in diverse topics from felt-making to organic gardening.
Now that we are in year four of the project, staff and volunteers are focussing efforts on meeting the remaining targets, particularly by increasing awareness of our project, the impact that therapeutic sessions have on co-workers and the range of activities we provide.
To date, this support has been mainly on a local level through small gifts in kind from B&Q, Sainsburys, Provender and other local shops supporting our events.
Sydenham Garden has developed a strong network of informal and formal partners in its 5-year successful service delivery history.
With an established health professional referral network in place (20+ agencies), we continue to target those coping with illness locally and extend our capacity to support our clients already on programme and also work with other community groups to promote healthy eating, share good practice and raise awareness of food sustainability and environmental issues.
Since 2002, the charity has developed a strong membership base, ‘Friends of Sydenham Garden’. We now have over 200 members from the local community who regularly donate funds and support the organisation in a variety of ways.
