This is building on the success of last year’s first full festival at our new site.

A wide range of activities, acts, bands, workshops and food has already been confirmed!

Activities like craft and traditional green wood working, “Have a go zone”, games, face painting, getting up close and personal with the chickens and pond life.

We will have a wide range of food available on the day including pizza, BBQ, crepes, paella, and of course tea, coffee and homemade cakes!

Workshops will also be running with topics like: Gardening and Health, Mindfulness and Nature, Conservation in the Urban Environment and more.

For sale there will be honey from our hives, festival attire, local produce and craft – along with our now famous plant sale!

And finally, some fun and upbeat local bands and acts have been booked and are ready to play, including the rocking Ukeadelixs, the tuneful Paper Fish and even a world record holder on our Green Tomato Stage. There will also be quiet and acoustic performances in our orchard venue.

My children really enjoyed last year, especially getting up close with the chickens. They also love the De Frene Market Garden itself, so any opportunity to visit is a good one

I just can’t wait! Surely the best value for money out there? In particular, I’m excited to hear Kath Haling play this year

Hi, Your event sounds really interesting, but I doubt we’ll be able to make it.

I thought I’d share with you the possible origin of the name De Frene….

When we lived in De Frene Road our neighbour Rene (at 56) was old and had some mental health issues, one day I got chatting to her and asked if she knew the street name’s origin?

She said “It’s named after me”.

She went on to explain that her mother had bought the house when it was only 3 feet (1M) tall and that she (Rene) had often gone to play on the site and talk to the men who were building it. She reconned they had named it after her “Deaf Rene”.

I recon it’s as likely as not true.

Good luck with your celebration and your project.
