The Christmas Fair was full of festive cheer! (and some wooden crafted reindeer!)
A wonderful time was had on Saturday. It was our annual Christmas Fair! An event put on to welcome people into our gardens. A great chance for co-workers (beneficiaries) and volunteers to showcase their work. It’s a chance for people to enjoy themselves with some simple festive pleasures.
We had some craft activities taking place, such as table decoration making. There was lots of delights to sample, from cakes and pancakes to wood-fired pizza! We also had stalls selling all kinds of gifts that included handmade decorations, Christmas plants and the ever popular tombola’s and raffles.
One Christmas Fair goer said:
“I have such a good time at your events, my children love them and we go home happy!”
Even more than simple fun
Our events also contribute to the running costs of the charity. Contracts and local government grants cover less than 50% of our expenditure. This year we raised £2000 through the Christmas fair. During 2016 we managed to raise over £6000 through our events! This is great news and means we can continue running sessions for more than 150 people recovering from mental ill-health each week.
Thanks to all who made the fair, and made sure if was full of “Festive Cheer”.
Our next planned event will be the start of: “Celebrating 15 years of Sydenham Garden” and will be the Spring Fair. A unique event with lots of Spring related activity and our famous plant sale. Click here to find out more: Spring Fair
