We are all slowing down in the garden after a very hot and busy summer. We have spent months propagating, growing, watering, and harvesting, and we are just starting to reflect on the past months and how much we have achieved and enjoyed in our garden groups. Our glut of cucumbers, the stunning colours in the wildflower meadow, making hawthorn ketchup and discovering nasturtium quiches are some of the highlights.
On one of the hottest days of the year, an intrepid garden group braved public transport and found ourselves in the sanctuary and oasis of Chelsea Physic Garden, who had generously donated free passes for our group. We were treated to a fantastic tour of the gardens, where we learnt lots about medicinal plants and enjoyed a picnic in the shade.
We also had a brilliant day out at the London Harvest Festival, where we entered lots of our beautiful produce, and managed to scoop a first prize from the judges for our De Frene cut flowers!
The garden would not grow without our dedicated teams of co-workers and volunteers, who all put in so much effort to make this place special. I feel very lucky to have been able to welcome them all each week.
