Spring Fair 2017, fun for everyone!

Spring Fair 2017

On Saturday the 6th of May we held our annual spring fair at the Wynell Road site. The fair was our most successful yet; with over 800 people through the door and more than £3000 pounds raised.

The event kicked off with live saxophone music from Crook on the veranda, followed by local band Lark in the Woods. Both groups were great and got more than a few people dancing!

The newly laid path through the meadow was put to good use, with the Art and Craft group selling homemade cards and biscuits, the nearly new stall and tombola, which all proved very popular.

The greenhouse was full to bursting with plants for sale from the gardening groups. It also housed a special stand for creations from the Sow and Grow sessions. Cakes and hot dogs fresh from the barbeque fed the crowds, with long queues at both stands.

Brand new for this year was Storyhug, for both adults and children. Everyone enjoyed making paper dolls and creating their own story. Karen from DinkyDot Discoveries was also a new addition, hosting sensory activities for children.

Our activities stand ran felting sessions which also managed to draw punters from all generations. And our only canine volunteer, Micky the service dog, managed to raise nearly £40 in his “Cash for Cuddles” initiative.

We want to thank everyone who attended the Spring Fair 2017, helping make the event a huge success.

If you would like to attend more of our events, our Summer Festival will be held on the 19th August at our De Frene site. We hope to make this event even better!
