In June, and for the third year running, we were very happy to partner with the Colfe’s and Brun Bear Community Day.
The Community Day sees Year 12 pupils from Colfe’s School volunteer with local community organisations across Lewisham. For us, it was a pleasure to welcome pupils and staff to volunteer at our De Frene Market Garden.
The team took on the task of building a new earth oven. Given how hot the day was, their enthusiasm and commitment was great to see. We’re very grateful for what the team achieved, having the new earth oven is a huge benefit to the site and in particular the fundraising events we hold, including our Summer Festival on 16 August 2025.
The finished oven is a credit to the team’s hard work and willingness to take on something new. Many thanks to all the team for your effort on the day – you did an amazing job, well done.
Thanks also goes to Zoe Kendrick at Colfe’s and to Edwin Lampert of The Brun Bear Foundation for arranging the team’s visit. We look forward to to taking part in the fourth Community Day in 2026.
