Supportive Herbs with Ⓜ.Ⓤ.Ⓓ

In February 2024, ⓜ.ⓤ.ⓓ designed and delivered an intergenerational LGBTQIA+ History Month project, Supportive Herbs.

Intertwining our 18-25-year-old’s group, ⓜ.ⓤ.ⓓ, with elders from the LGBTQIA+ community, we decided upon a project that revolved around medicinal herbs.

We explored our nature reserve, spent considered time with wild herbs, and conducted research at Chelsea Physic Garden. Botanical art arose collaboratively as we conversed, listened, painted, splattered, foraged, wove, and spectated.

Filmmaker, Jack Hogan, composed a 28-minute film collaging our research and intergenerational conversations together (see video below).

We then screened this to the public, and exhibited our botanical art, giving us the chance to meet new LGBTQIA+ people and allies from our local communities.

This project was funded by Lewisham Council’s main grants.
